| Blissmo Delivers a Box of Green Products and Eco-Education Posted: 30 Jun 2011 07:48 PM PDT      Imagine a service that combines Groupon with community-supported agriculture. Blissmo, a flash-sale site, launched Blissmobox on Thursday, delivering boxes of discounted organic and eco-friendly products to subscribers' doors. Founded in July 201, the startup promotes sustainable purchasing and products to create a happier, healthier planet. Blissmo believes that every purchase is a vote with your wallet. Users can simultaneously get a good deal even as they vote to make goods more sustainable across the world. Each month, subscribers receive curated boxes of their choosing for a monthly rate of $19, plus $3 shipping. For June, subscribers can opt for either a "Food & Beverage" box of Fair Trade, organic and sustainable goods or a "Skin & Beauty" box of organic, non-toxic and perservative-free products.
Blissmo's co-founder, Sundeep Ahuja, sited a lack of information as one of the main reasons that people don't buy organic. "Tons of my friends have no time but they want to buy better products," Ahuja said. The boxes help users get a deal and discover products that are good for the planet. In addition to lack of brand familiarity, Blissmo hopes it will overcome people's distrust in "green" labeling and expectation that organic is a tradeoff for quality, by providing their stamp of quality and eco-friendly approval.
